ithin OSC's Jebel Ali facilities there are four fully equipped oilfield workshops each with its own core competencies. There is some overlap of these competencies because each company operates independently. These workshops are profiled here so that an awareness of the services that can be provided from Jebel Ali is increased.

Christensen Gulf Services LLC has provided workshop services to the Middle East oil and gas industry since 1976 with its main focus being the repair and service of downhole motors and tools.

Services undertaken are: -

• Machining of API connections on all drilling equipment
• Repair and service of downhole motors and tools
• Repair and service of stabilisers including hard-facing
• Break-out and make-up connections up to 125,000 ft/lbs
• General machining on hollow spindle and smaller lathes
• Manufacture of cross over subs, alignment subs, stabilisers
• Corebarrel repair and service
• General oilfield fabrication

Smith International Gulf Services LLC has provided DRILCO field machine shop and inspection services since 1974 and has extensive facilities in Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi and Muscat. From repair of tools in the early days the capabilities have developed to including manufacturing and the following summarises these:-

• Mandrels and sleeves for Ezy-Change type I-II stabilisers
• Solid integral blade stabilisers/welded blade stabilisers

In addition to the above the company manufactures slotted liners and wire wrapped screens, fluid sealing products (ring-joint, flat and spiral wound gaskets) and has a CAD/CAM Water Jet machine for precision out gaskets and engineering parts from any material.
