OSC's Jebel Ali facilities there are four fully
equipped oilfield workshops each with its own
core competencies. There is some overlap of these
competencies because each company operates independently.
These workshops are profiled here so that an awareness
of the services that can be provided from Jebel
Ali is increased.
Oilfields Supply Center Ltd.
has one workshop/manufacturing facility in the
Engineering Services department. An extensive

Christensen
Gulf Services LLC has provided
workshop services to the Middle East oil and
gas industry since 1975 with its main focus
being the repair and service of downhole motors
and tools.
Services undertaken are:

- Machining of API connections on all drilling
equipment
- Repair and service of downhole motors and
tools
- Repair and service of stabilisers including
hard-facing
- Break-out and make-up connections up to
125,000 ft/lbs
- General machining on hollow spindle and
smaller lathes

subs, stabilisers

International Gulf Services LLC
has provided DRILCO field machine shop and inspection
services since 1974 and has extensive facilities
in Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi and Muscat. From repair
of tools in the early days the capabilities
have developed to including manufacturing and
the following summarises these:-

- Drill collars (spiral/slick)
- Short drill collars
- Mandrels and sleeves for Ezy-Change type
I-II stabilisers
- Solid integral blade stabilisers/welded

the company manufactures slotted liners and
wire wrapped screens, fluid sealing products

extensive workshop capabilities in Bandar Imam
Khomeini, Iran which can provide the following
services:
- Workshop situated inside 9,000 sq mtr facility
- 22 10/16" CNC hollow spindle lathe
- Profile Projector for holding transperencies
- Containerised servicing facility
- Test press
- Churchill grinding machine (stabizer blades,
mills)
- Powertorque for make up and break out of
connections up to 13 3/8" in diameter
with a minimum of 4,000 ft/lbs to a maximum
of 150,000 ft/lbs
- Computerised Digital Torque print out (Torquelogger)
- Hydraulic shoe track assembly unit
- 3 x 10,000 psi test pumps

A well services workshop
has been included to service, assemble and repair
wellheads, Christmas trees, completion assemblies,
safety valves etc: -

- 12 mtrs x 2.5 mtrs x 2.5 mtrs reinforced
testbay
- Air wrenches, hammer wrenches
- 2 x 3 ton electric overhead cranes
- Tool storage area
- Supplied personnel
- Stand alone tool servicing vices
IOSC has been granted the
license to machine the Tenaris 3SB premium connection
in all sizes up to 13 3/8" and by August
2004 the company will qualify and become a licensee
for Tenaris ER, MS & MS28 premium connections
as well as the DSTJ connection.
The enable the company to
provide machining work to a high standard it
uses working gauges for API, BTC and LTC connections
from a certified API guage manufacturer. The
range of working gauges is quite extensive and
assures clients that the company endeavors to
provide a high degree of accuracy in provision
of its machining work.
An NS1 and NS2 license from
OCTG Procter, Aberdeen Scotland was awarded
to the company which enables it to use these
procedures which involve QA/QC systems for the
manufacture and repair of new and used equipment.
A Quality Assurance Manager
has been appointed to implement and train the
company's personnel in its QA/QC systems initially
for the workshop and latterly for the company
to enter in to an IOSC 9001:2000 program.
The company now provides
Level I and Level II certified inspectors for
Magnetic Particle and Dye Penetrant Inspection
of drilling tubulars and casing. Certification
of the company's inspectors was provided by
Lonestar Technical Services Dubai.
