Bandar
Imam Khomeini is situated some 170 kilometers
south of Ahwaz and 150 Kilometers north-west
of Soroosh/Nowrooz. 110 kilometers east of Abadan
International Airport and other airports nearby
are Ahwaz and Mahshahr.
From among the commercial
ports in Iran, the Bandar Imam Khomeini port
handles almost half of non-oil cargo exchanges
alone, and thus is considered to be the most
significant and biggest commercial terminal
in the country.

Kish Island
Due to its strategic position
and relatively good infrastructure Kish Island
has proved to be a very useful location for
logistic services in support of drilling in
the South Pars field.
The two delineation wells
for Total South
Pars were drilled primarily with
support from the facilities on the island complemented
by the broader infrastructure of Jebel Ali.
Total South Pars has been
quite happy with the services provided by Kish
Island and have stated that they have been very
pleased with the logistic services provided
by OSC under its contract TSP/OP/CFT 008 Handling
Base Services which have been performed from
Kish Island itself. Furthermore, Total South
Pars is undertaking the well drilling from Kish
as Assaluyeh is not yet developed sufficiently.
Pedec (Petropars) are also
using Kish Island on a limited basis for support
of its project particularly JDC (Sagadrill)
which has a small presence on the Island.
Bushehr
Bushehr is very well placed
to support the Dorood, Hendijan and possibly
Foroozan offshore projects and, in fact, IOSC
has been awarded the contract to provide Handling/Lifting/Transportation
Services to TotalFinaElf in support of the offshore
portion of its Dorood buy-back project. Bushehr
can also support the Kharg Island operation
where the Dorood onshore drilling will take
place.
IOSC has signed a contract
with the Ports and Shipping Organisation (PSO)
of the Islamic Republic of Iran for office,
guesthouse, open and closed storage and harbour
facilities within its Bushehr facilities to
support the Dorood project. Additionally, IOSC
will provide vessel clearance services, customs
clearances and waste disposal services from
the Bushehr Port.
Bushehr
already houses the IOOC operations for NIOC
but this area is considered a little congested
hence the move to PSO facilities not far away.
Some distances from Bushehr
are: -
| Kharg Island |
- |
67 kilometers |
| Bandar Imam Khomeini |
- |
258 kilometers |
| Kish Island |
- |
458 kilometers |
| Bandar Abbas |
- |
725 kilometers |
Bushehr
is served by an international airport situated
only 3 kilometers from the port and the airport
has daily flights within Iran to cities such
as Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz and flights to
Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Due to Bushehr's support
of the oil and gas industry which has spanned
many years, there does exist a large pool of
well-qualified Iranians who could perform exceptional
service with suitable training and the right
equipment.
IOSC is committed to the
process of indigenisation without comprising
the level of service and is further committed
to a strong Health, Safety and Environmental
orientation.
Kharg
Island
The Dorood project, awarded
to TotalFinaElf and ENI is a $1.0 billion buy-back
development contract aimed at increasing output
from the field by 90,000 bpd to 220,000 bpd.
Further it requires extensive reinjection facilities
to more than double the current reserves to1.5
billion barrels.

Drilling of the appraisal
and development wells were completed after many
delays by late 2006.
Kharg Island is the key area
of drilling (onshore) and there will also be
some offshore drilling adjacent to the island.
IOSC provides logistics services to the Dorood
project on Kharg Island where it has mobile
cranes, pipe-handler, forklifts, buses and manpower
to support the TotalFinaElf operation. Bushehr
takes a less active role in the Dorood project
but is used from time to time.
Khorramshahr
IOSC intends to operate a
somewhat limited service out of the Khorramshahr
port because the port infrastructure itself
does not lend itself to Oilfield operations
primarly because of the very low draft of the
quays. It might, however, have practical uses
as a warehousing location for transit materials
for Azadegan and Bangestan and it is this context
that IOSC intends to establish a presence there.
Clearly Khorramshahr's position
to the west of the Karoon river facilities support
to these projects situated close to the Iraq
border (Anaran, Darquain, Azadegan, Bangestan,
Mehr etc).
Ahwaz
The
Bangestan project(s) is a $2.0 billion overall
contract and the only logistics capabilities
currently in existence belong to NIDC. These
are clearly inefficient, as they have not been
able to satisfy NIDC's own demands with any
degree of success. Our intention would be to
establish offices; warehouses and workshops
in Ahwaz and draw inventory supplies from IOSC's
Bandar Imam Khomeini base as and when required.
Other fields that could benefit
from the infrastructure in Ahwaz include Cheshmeh
Khosh, Darkhovin, Dehluran, Paydar, Paydar West,
Agha Jari and Masjed-E-Suleyman and Azedegan.
Jebel Ali (OSC base)
We certainly continue to
see the need to use Jebel Ali as a support to
Kish Island, Assaluyeh and Bushehr as it complements
the activities in Iran itself. As many of the
services that can be provided from the Iranian
facilities with the appropriate quality levels
clearly should be encouraged but there must
be back-up support and this is where we see
OSC's Jebel Ali capabilities.
